I've been meaning to blog this for aaages but only just got a photo of my work at the exhibition. I painted mostly on bits of crap i stole from college... velvet, old table covers, bits of old wood. Because of how shit the things i painted on were i decided to just nail them into the wall.. none of the paintings would've looked right framed or hung up properly. I think maybe for this reason nobody was really interested in buying anything i'd done because nobody really wants a crappy bit of velvet nailed to their wall. I had intended to create work to shock people and i think it worked - one day we were in the factory and an old couple came in, took one look at my work, tutted and walked in the other direction. anyway i got my feedback and i got DMM for the whole project so i was pretty happy.

I'm not gonna lie, it was the absolute worst pain EVER. But then again it really wasn't that painful. strange.. anyway i don't care because it looks REEALLY good, i'm just hoping they don't get infected or anything disgusting like that. me and lacey went to frodo's house to get it done and i really didn't even panic up until the moment the needle went in. much more relaxed than a piercing studio, i would've been shitting it and probably would've pussied out. lacey did me a few small heart tattoos that night and the pain didn't even slightly compare.

ideas for exhibition at bally shoe factory -
so far have only been able to think of shit that doesn't really add up to anything.. the subject is 'identity' so have come up with the idea of homosexuality as identity (how homosexuals are often alienated and discriminated) and created a few paintings of alien-headed lesbians during sex (quite vivid/shocking as i like the idea of pissing people off and will probably enjoy any bad feedback) although my tutor, catherine, thinks that i only skim past my ideas and never explore them very much. which is true.. i have also been thinking about childhood and how events shape us and our identity. i'd like this project to be very personal and have been thinking back to my own childhood for different ideas and inspirations. i have a few quite far fetched ideas but may just stretch some canvases, slap some paint, petroleum jelly, whatever else i can find onto them in the shape of some childhood memory and exhibit them rather than trying to go for a sculpture, video or installation (because i'm too skint). i also made a maquette (right) of a hanging vagina (foam, red material, lace, string.. female condom) which i intend to enlarge and make some kind of crazy ceiling hanging thing. where the red fabric is i may buy some coloured balls (as in ball pit balls) and put them inside the vagina. ill explain more later its late, im up in 6 hours.

I'll settle for the safe-bet husband. He'll be round, jolly. No mind of his own. The safe-bet car, you'll never break down. And the safe-bet kids. In bed by half-seven, homework done. No back-chat, chat-back, up or down. The safe-bet haircut with the safe-bet skirt, shirt, shoes. Safe-bet wallpaper, to stare at with my safe-bet mind. Until my safe-bet mind turns bet-safe, upside, round, up, down, back-chat, chat-back, bed by half never, I am past the end of my..safe-bet husband never helps. No mind of his own. Never jolly. Always round, fat. Always causing fights. Spitting and screaming, safe-bet husband. Face permanently red. Screams 'Shit safe-bet wife, you may as well be dead, I'm tired of you and this fight.'. I think yeah, why not. Safe-bet husband's right.

micachu i am in love with you

Last night we (me, lucan, hollie, dennis, jessie, roisin, rosie and amy) went to norwich arts centre to see micachu and the shapes and they were actually pretty amazing. saw mica levi hanging around near the dressing rooms and have decided that i am completely in love with her.

The most amazing book I have ever, ever come across. nearly bought a copy when i was in Berlin in february but it was about 50 euros so I had to settle for ripping my favourite photograph out of the reference only copy in the library at college.. I need this book I only spent half an hour with it and still, fuck.

brushes with love

And I couldn't help but think about my brushes with love. To slip on or slip off the glove. To slip. To experience that minor glip. That glint in your eye, with the last sip. The last sip until you slip, then you realise your mistake. Until then it's far too late, too late to take, to take. Then you regret the break, the mistake of all mistakes, the last sip, that minor glip, that slap, that hit. That spit, between the temple and the heart, the one with which you must part.
